Announced is not available. In October, Google's Gemini 4 Argon took two weeks to reach the subscribers it was announced for, Gemini 4 Carbon was announced for a subset of cyber defenders only, and Mistral's Large 4 split one model across two moderation levels. The terms that matter sat elsewhere: on a help page, in a footnote, behind a date. Six OneHuman reports, BNA #30 through #35, covered the month's moves. This report adds what changed outside them, through October 31, across the nine tools OneHuman tracks.
What Happened (This Month)
Six BNAs published, numbered 30 through 35. Model names (BNA30, Oct 3): Argon, Mythos, Sol and Muse Spark name a feeling, not a rank, and access behind each depends on plan and surface. Mistral (BNA31, Oct 7): Large 4 launched as a public preview while a vetted group got the same model at reduced moderation. Anthropic (BNA32, Oct 11): credits promised to every paid Claude plan in May reached Max and Team on October 7, with Team capped at $500 a month for the whole team. xAI (BNA33, Oct 15): The X Subscription put Grok and Cursor on one weekly pool whose base size xAI does not state. Gemini (BNA34, Oct 21): free Gemini defaults to Auto, mostly Flash-Lite, and never shows which model answered. Claude (BNA35, Oct 25): a limit reset to "save and use whenever you choose" carries an expiry in its help page.
Several dated changes fell outside those reports. On October 13, Google made Gemini 4 Argon generally available, including for "Google AI Ultra and Pro subscribers in the Gemini app and AI Mode in Search." Google's API pricing page lists Argon input at "$2.00 through November 30, 2026. $4.00 starting December 1, 2026." and output at "$10.00 through November 30, 2026. $20.00 starting December 1, 2026." per million tokens. On October 28, Google announced Gemini 4 Carbon: "we will make Carbon available to a subset of cyber defenders." It said Carbon will launch at "the same introductory price as Argon at $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens," with no end date stated for that price.
On October 26, OpenAI released GPT-6.1 Terra at $1 and $5 per million tokens in the API. In ChatGPT it sits in Work and Codex for Plus and above, not on Free or Go. DeepSeek's pricing page says Search and Fetch calls made through DeepSeek Harness, Claude Code or Codex are "currently free of charge; per-request billing starts at 00:00 Beijing time on November 1, 2026," at $0.75 per 1,000 successful requests each. xAI's plans page shows "50% off for 1 month" on Premium, Super and Ultra, then $30, $100 and $200. List prices are unchanged since the October 12 X Subscription.
On October 31, Anthropic's pricing page lists four plans: Free, Pro, Max and Ultra. Max is $100, with "5x Pro usage every 5 hours and every week." Ultra is $200, with "10x Pro usage every week" and "No 5-hour limit for verified accounts." OneHuman's capture of the same page on October 30 listed the $200 plan as Max 20x, described as 20 times Pro's usage per 5-hour session. Session and weekly allowances are different units, so OneHuman does not call this a cut. The page does not say what verified means.
OneHuman's own record this month: free alerts launched on October 28. Readers pick their tools and get one short email when one changes price, limits, model access or terms, after double opt-in, with each send approved by a human. From October 12 to 20, a sourcing sprint fingerprinted every source in OneHuman's knowledge base (205 URLs across 260 citations), re-sourced the April seed batch, logged each correction as its own commit and timestamped the cleaned state. One result is public: the April 1 Mistral article was corrected on October 20.
What This Means
Three patterns run through October.
Announced is not available. Argon was announced September 30 for trusted cyber defenders and reached Pro and Ultra subscribers on October 13. Carbon followed the same route on October 28, with consumer availability promised "as soon as possible." Google's Carbon announcement leads with a benchmark table that Google selected, and its cyber results were "evaluated without guardrails." Mistral gave the public a Large 4 preview while a vetted group used the same model at reduced moderation. OneHuman's October 3 report called restricted-first releases n=2, a co-occurrence. Mythos, Argon and Carbon make three announcements across two labs, still a small set, and the counter-evidence stands: Fable 5.1 is the same model as Mythos 5.1 and is generally available. It stays a watch item, not a rule.
The deal sits on the second page. The Claude reset promised timing freedom on the launch page and attached an expiry on the help page (BNA35). Free Gemini's model is chosen for the user and never shown (BNA34). xAI's pool is a multiple of a base it does not publish (BNA33). Anthropic's credits shrank from every paid plan to two (BNA32). On October 31, the Ultra plan's "verified accounts" has no definition on the page that uses it. In each case the headline was accurate and the condition sat somewhere else.
Introductory prices come with an end date, and the end date is the story. Argon's API price doubles on both input and output on December 1. Carbon will launch at Argon's introductory price with no end date stated. DeepSeek's search and fetch calls are free until November 1 and billed after. Grok's offer is 50% off for one month. Google published Argon's schedule on its pricing page, so this is disclosed. A buyer who budgets on the launch price is budgeting on a number that has a date on it.
Consumer Protection Q&A
Q: I pay for Google AI Pro. Do I have Gemini 4 Argon? A: Google's announcement names AI Ultra and AI Pro subscribers in the Gemini app, since October 13. Free and AI Plus are not named.
Q: Will my Gemini API bill double? A: For Argon, the standard rate steps from $2 and $10 to $4 and $20 per million tokens on December 1, unless Google changes it.
Q: Can I use Gemini 4 Carbon? A: No. Google says a subset of cyber defenders get it first, and has not dated wider access.
Q: I use DeepSeek's API through Claude Code or Codex. Do the search calls start costing money? A: Yes, from 00:00 Beijing time on November 1: $0.75 per 1,000 successful requests each for Search and Fetch. They are free until then.
Q: Do I lose my Claude limit reset if I wait? A: It can expire. Anthropic's help page says an unused reset expires on the day and time listed on the offer (BNA35).
What Happens Next
30 days: DeepSeek's billing begins November 1. Argon's price steps on December 1. Does Google widen Carbon's release? Mistral said Large 4's weights would drop by the end of October; do they arrive, and with which safeguards (BNA31)? Does Anthropic define "verified" and publish Ultra's old and new session numbers? 90 days: Does Carbon keep Argon's introductory price or get an end date? How does GPT-6.1 Terra appear in Work's default presets for Plus and Pro users? 6-12 months: does an introductory price with an end date become the default way to launch a model?
What to Do Next
- If you build on Gemini 4 Argon, budget for $4 and $20 per million tokens from December 1, not $2 and $10.
- Before upgrading to get Argon, check your Gemini plan. Google names AI Pro and Ultra in the Gemini app.
- If you use DeepSeek through Claude Code, Codex or Harness, expect Search and Fetch charges from November 1.
- If you pay $200 for Claude, read the Ultra terms on the pricing page before renewing, including that "verified accounts" is undefined there.
Bottom Line
What's real: access, price and limits now arrive as a schedule or a condition, and the schedule is often on a page other than the launch post. What to watch: Carbon's release and price, Argon's December 1 step, and DeepSeek's November 1 billing. What's next: Join OneHuman (Free or Pro), pick the tools you use, and get one short email when one of them changes the deal.
